Ring launches “world’s first” flying indoor security camera
Amazon-owned Ring has took wraps off its Always Home Cam, advertised as the first flying indoor security camera in the world.
The camera – currently only available via invite – uses a combination of active sensors and advanced navigation algorithms to fly along your personalised, predetermined paths when a Ring Alarm sensor is triggered, or within the Ring App.
For privacy and security, it comes with an integrated flight control system, so that the camera only flies where or when a customer wants.
The Always Home cam uses include not only for security purposes but checking if the oven was left on or the doors are locked.
When it’s not in use, the camera drone remains in the dock where the lens is physically blocked. After it is activated, it produces an audible sound to ensure users can hear the camera.
“ If the last 18 months have taught us anything, it’s that technology in the home has to evolve to meet changing customer needs, and we continue to innovate and provide easy-to-use solutions that help our customers protect what matters most,” said Jamie Siminoff, founder and chief inventor at Ring That includes bringing together network security in addition to physical security, and providing options for customers when they aren’t able to immediately check in on a camera notification. With the next generation of devices and services we are announcing today, we continue to deliver on our mission to make neighbourhoods safer and provide customers with peace of mind.”
