Retailer WHSmith has implemented a new joint solution from Accenture and CrowdStrike with the aim to bolster its global defences against cyber threats.

The storefront, known for selling stationery and books, has integrated Accenture’s security services with CrowdStrike’s Falcon cybersecurity platform, with the goal of improving threat visibility, optimising operational costs, and strengthening security across its global network.

The collaboration combines cloud security, identity protection, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) capabilities. The partnership is to enable real-time threat detection and response, while also enhancing cost-efficiency for customers.

Paolo Dal Cin, global lead of Accenture Security, said: “Cybercriminals are infiltrating organisations with increasing sophistication and speed.”

He added: “By combining our expertise with CrowdStrike’s technology, we can help clients take a more proactive and efficient approach to digital defence.”

WHSmith operates over 1,700 stores across more than 30 countries. According to the announcement, the partnership between Accenture and CrowdStrike has allowed the retailer to better monitor and secure its operations, extending advanced security measures from corporate networks to individual store registers.

Jon Begley, global chief information security officer at WHSmith Group, said: “The collaboration between Accenture and CrowdStrike is helping us improve threat visibility across our global business, while maintaining a responsive and agile security operation to protect our digital assets.”

“This allows us to focus on growing our global travel retail business and delivering a leading customer experience.”

By pooling their resources, Accenture and CrowdStrike aim to assist organisations in reducing costs, simplifying security operations, and enhancing threat detection through a unified platform. They claim that this combination can drive up to 60% workflow optimisation for Security Operations (SecOps) use cases and achieve up to 15% cost optimisation.
