Amazon has announced an investment of $15 billion in Northern Indiana to build new data-center campuses adding 2.4 GW of capacity and creating about 1,100 jobs to support AI and cloud workloads.
The post says Amazon reached an energy agreement with NIPSCO under which Amazon will pay fees to use existing transmission and cover the costs of any new generation and lines needed for the project; NIPSCO and its GenCo affiliate outlined plans to supply up to 3 GW dedicated capacity with related transmission build-out.
Amazon adds that the arrangement is intended to shield local residents and businesses from added power costs and cites workforce programs tied to the build.
Amazon separately announced up to $50 billion to expand AI and supercomputing for U.S. government customers; the Indiana build is a separate initiative.
