Energy-sector leaders view AI and grid software as essential to the clean-energy transition, with 59% planning major investments in autonomous grid systems, according to Siemens’s recent Infrastructure Transition Monitor 2025 report.
According to the study, 68% say autonomous systems are crucial for cutting emissions, 72% expect AI to transform operations within three years, and 74% report AI is already helping make critical infrastructure more resilient. The biennial study surveyed 1,400 senior executives across 19 countries.
“Outdated grid infrastructure poses a serious threat to the clean energy transition,” said Sabine Erlinghagen, CEO of Siemens Grid Software, urging regulation to keep pace with digitalization and innovation.
The report also notes friction points: 58% cite uncertainty about future energy-system design as delaying clean-tech investments; 65% see electrification as the most feasible path to net-zero; 73% say progress is constrained by inadequate grid infrastructure.
