Anthropic announced that it will invest $50 billion to build custom data centers in Texas and New York, partnering with Fluidstack, with more sites to follow.

The project will create about 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction jobs, with facilities “coming online throughout 2026,” and links the effort to the administration’s AI Action Plan to bolster U.S. AI infrastructure.

“Realizing that potential requires infrastructure that can support continued development at the frontier,” CEO Dario Amodei said in the company’s announcement. Fluidstack added that it was selected for the ability to deliver “gigawatts of power,” and said the average salary for the permanent roles will be nearly $144,000.

Anthropic’s post also states it now serves more than 300,000 business customers and is prioritizing “cost-effective, capital-efficient approaches” as it scales compute for Claude models. Fluidstack’s companion release confirms the two initial states and restates the 2026 timeline.

Anthropic says additional U.S. sites are planned; locations will be announced as projects advance.
