Windows 10 support officially ends Oct. 14, 2025, marking the sunset of Microsoft’s decade-old operating system. Technical assistance, feature updates, and security patches cease immediately.
The OS will continue functioning, but it will become increasingly vulnerable without security updates. Microsoft strongly recommends upgrading to Windows 11 or enrolling in the Extended Security Updates program.
The ESU program offers up to one additional year of security coverage for consumers unable to upgrade immediately. IT professionals have separate extended support options available.
Microsoft 365 Apps continue running on Windows 10 but lose official support. Security updates for Office on Windows 10 extend until Oct. 2028, a three-year grace period.
Non-subscription Office versions face dual impacts: Office 2016 and 2019 support ends entirely, while Office 2021 and 2024 lose support on Windows 10 specifically. Office 2021 support concludes fully in October 2026.
