Equinix and IBM collaborate on hybrid cloud
Equinix and IBM have announced a partnership to develop hybrid cloud journeys.
Their goal is to help partners and customers integrate multiple cloud solutions in hybrid environments, automate time-consuming work, solve digital transformation challenges, and simplify collaboration.
Ultimately, they want to make it easier for their joint customers to access IBM Cloud services from their digital infrastructures on Platform Equinix globally via direct and secure interconnection of hybrid IT infrastructures.
Enterprises can connect to IBM Cloud from their physical or digital infrastructures through IBM Cloud Satellite, which can be deployed to 230 Equinix edge data centres across 64 metros with Equinix Fabric.
Equinix Fabric is a software-defined interconnection designed for companies to connect to the IBM Cloud (including in metros with no native IBM Cloud Direct Link presence). It is also designed to allow IBM users to connect to other cloud or software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers in a hybrid multi-cloud infrastructure.
Equinix Metal is an automated, interconnected bare metal-as-a-service (BMaaS), and is available in Equinix International Business Exchanges (IBX) around the world. Equinix Metal is now authorised to run IBM and Red Hat applications, starting with Red Hat OpenShift, delivered via IBM Cloud Satellite.
