Jaguar to use AI as a crystal ball on future supply chain disruptions
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced a partnership with supply chain mapping and risk analytics firm Evertsream Analytics to use its artificial intelligence solutions to boost its supply chain management.
The British car firm said that the new technology will help avoid any future global supply issues by allowing it to monitor its supply chain in real-time.
According to JLR, the technology analyses data using a combination of AI, predictive analytics, machine learning, and human intuition to plot emerging incidents such as natural disasters, strikes, data breaches and export issues on a global map, alerting JLR to any potential effect on its supply chain.
The car manufacturer pointed to the global pandemic and recent semi-conductor crisis that caused major disruption to supply chains for all automotive firms as a driver behind its decision to use digital technologies in order to avoid the same disruptions in the future.
The semi-conductor crisis meant that the production of many technologies, including electric vehicles, were disturbed.
“Through our collaboration with Everstream Analytics, we are harnessing the power of AI to proactively manage risks before they cause disruption to production, ensuring we are resilient and can deliver to the commitments we make to our clients,” said Barbara Bergmeier, JLR’s executive director for industrial operations.
“This foresight will become even more critical as we develop a new value chain around our next generation ultra-desirable modern luxury electric vehicles,” she stated.
“The global value chains serving electrified vehicles are among the most complex to navigate. Everstream Analytics’ AI-driven supplier visibility and insights empower JLR to proactively mitigate risks, enhance agility, and promoted supply chain resilience,” Julie Gerdeman, CEO of Everstream Analytics, added.
